There is no industry in this region and all the people make their living mainly by a traditional, organic agriculture. There are several shops, cafeteria and a pub, a school and a church. Outside the village, within walking distance, is located one of the biggest reservoir in the country which is popular among the local fishermen and campers. The two nearby small towns – Suhindol and Pavlikeni - offer all the shopping and banking necessities in several minutes. Within a radius of 50 km., there are many historic villages, churches and monasteries which make it a favorite destination for both Bulgarians and foreigners.

How to get there
Bjala reka is conveniently located 15 km from the Sofia to Varna highway and 30 km from Veliko Tarnovo. It is half the distance between Sofia and Varna so that one can travel to Varna in the summer via charter flights and to Sofia all year round. At 35 km is the local airport in Gorna Oryahovitsa, which is planned to be privatized and opened to commercial flights in the near future due to the thousands of tourists and second-home owners in Veliko Tarnovo area.
